AMKE CLASS // Make a Fantasy Phone Pouch

Location: Anime Milwaukee 2025 - Baird Center, North Hall N1 Level, N108B Sewing Room

Class Length: 2 hours

Learn how to create a phone pouch perfect for ren faires, fantasy costumes, and more in this intermediate-level sewing course. You'll be guided through the process of stitching a functional pouch, setting rivets, and installing a flip-lock closure by Jess Barrera, owner of Sallie Tomato, and students will leave with a completed bag ready for use.

In this workshop you'll learn:

• How to work with faux-leather fabrics
• How to install snaps, rivets, and more
• Special machine considerations and tools required to sew heavy fabrics
• Installing special closures for bags and accessories

Prerequisite Skills:

This is an intermediate course, meaning students should:

• Be comfortable sewing on a machine
• Know how to thread and machine and sew a straight stitch without assistance
• Have finished multiple sewing projects on a machine previously

About the Instructor:

Jessica Barrera, an author, designer, educator, and entrepreneur, has been creatively sewing and crafting since the age of five. She studied entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and now operates her own sewing pattern and supply company, Sallie Tomato. Her innovative designs and products aim to attract the next generations of sewing enthusiasts while appealing to current makers. Aside from running a business, Jess is a mom of two boys and enjoys coffee, home decorating, traveling, yoga, being outdoors, and classic movies.

The Nitty Gritty:

• To participate in this class you must be at least 16 years of age
• Anyone under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian and a liability waiver must be signed
• Space is limited and all tickets are first come first serve
• Purchasing a ticket reserves one (1) seat at this class. For multiple tickets, please add more than one ticket to your cart
• All tickets are final sale. In the event of a no-show, no refunds will be available
• Tickets will be delivered digitally to the email address provided at checkout. This digital ticket will be needed to enter the event.
• All classes start promptly at the time they're scheduled for. In the event of tardiness, you may miss certain aspects of the class and may not be able to complete the scheduled project in full
