Ready to make your costume details jaw-dropping? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of tambour embroidery — a couture technique used in high fashion and historical costuming to create beautiful, intricate embellishments with speed and precision. Although tambour embroidery might look advanced, we’ll break it down in a fun, accessible way so you can start adding this dazzling technique to your own creative toolkit.

In this workshop you'll learn:

• How to handle a tambour hook and fabric stretched in a frame

• The foundation chain stitch that forms the base of tambour work

• Techniques for applying beads, sequins, and threads directly into embroidery

• How to translate motifs and designs into stitchable patterns

• Practical tips for applying tambour embroidery to costume panels, collars, veils, and trim

Prerequisite Skills:

This is an intermediate level course

• Prior experience hand sewing is required
• Prior experience with hand beading is recommended, but not required

About the Instructor:

Aissac is a professional costumer from NYC that specializes in pattern making, beading, hand finishing, and garment construction. They’ve worked on shows for both film and Broadway, such as Wicked, The Lion King, Gilded Age, and the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. • To participate in this workshop, a liability waiver must be completed for all participants
• Anyone under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian
• Space is limited and all tickets are first come first serve
